RN-LPN Remedial/Refresher Course

This is a 3–6-month course, covering all the contents in the RN/PN Refresher/Remedial Course required by the Board
of Nursing. Our class consists of at least 176 hours of didactic and clinical, and upon successful completion of the
course, the candidate will satisfy the Florida Board of Nursing remediation requirements.

  • Candidate who failed the NCLEX three consecutive times; or
  • Candidate who graduated from nursing school but have not taken the test within 6 six months of graduation; or
  • Candidates who do not hold a RN/LPN active license, have not practiced in the past five years, or did not
    attend/complete nursing school and want to get prepped for entry/re-entry into a nursing program; or
  • Candidates applying for license by endorsement based on having passed the NCLEX previously.

Upon completion, the student should function as providers of care, coordinators of care, and members within the
discipline of nursing as they:

  • Integrate the nursing process as a framework for the coordination of care of clients and families.
  • The student will be able to monitor the client and family, collect the data, form a nursing diagnosis,
  • Participate/contribute to the nursing plan of care with goals and outcome criteria.
  • Apply organizational and interpersonal communication strategies in coordinating/managing the care of clients,
    families, and other health care workers. This includes effectively reporting and recording patient assessment
    information and plan of care and integrating teaching and learning strategies for client and family education.
  • Integrate cultural, spiritual, psychological, and developmental influences when managing client care.
  • Integrate the principals of pharmacology safely and competently when providing client care. This includes
    being knowledgeable of actions, side effects, doses, and precautions of commonly prescribed medications as
    well as safe administration of oral, parenteral, and intravenous medications.
  • Integrate the principles of safety when providing care to clients and families.
  • Incorporate the principles of nutrition for maintaining optimal healthcare for clients and families.
  • Value legal, ethical, and professional parameters when managing client care.

Subjects Covered:
This is a comprehensive review that covers subjects such as:

  • Medical-Surgical Nursing
  • Pharmacology
  • Obstetrics (Maternal-Newborn)
  • Pediatrics
  • Psychiatric/Mental Health
  • Test-taking strategies
  • Practice exam
  • NCLEX Simulation exams (if required) Etc.

Methodology:

  • Assigned Readings
  • Online Lecture/Video &/or Assigned Readings
  • Clinical Hospital Experience with Preceptor
  • Three Computer Adaptive NCLEX Simulation exams (if required)
  • Clinical Forms and Simulation Lab as part of the Clinical Section (if required)
  • A final exam

Didactic/Clinical Evaluation:

  • The students must complete all assignments/modules/subjects, quizzes and question bank.
  • A minimum score of 75% must be achieved on the final exam to pass. If the student does not meet the required score, they will be eligible to retake the final exam. Please note that a new fee will be charged for the retake.
  • If a student does not complete the course within 6 months, he/she will be eligible to continue the course for another 6 months (new fee charged).
  • The clinical experience is graded on a pass/fail basis. If the student is unsuccessful or fails the clinicals, he/she will not pass the course. However, the student may be eligible to redo the clinicals, but a new fee will be charged for the redo.
  • The clinical evaluation forms must be completed by both the clinical instructor/preceptor and the student.
    Note: At least 90% of the didactic materials must be completed prior to initiating the clinical rotation.

The student is expected to complete all didactic sessions and all the 96 hours of clinicals scheduled. In case of an emergency, it is the student’s responsibility to call the Institution to arrange a make-up date with his/her preceptor (new fee charged).
After completing your clinical rotation and didactic sessions, and once all required paperwork has been received, you will be issued a course completion certificate or letter. The Florida Board of Nursing will be notified of your course completion within 30 days.
If you are seeking license reactivation or endorsement in a state other than Florida, you must contact that state’s Nursing Board and provide them with your course completion certificate or letter.

Note: If you’re applying for the NCLEX or trying to reinstate your RN/LPN license in Florida, the Florida Board of Nursing mandates that at least 50% of your clinical experience to be completed within the state. This requirement is non-negotiable, meaning no exceptions will be made.

  1.  Fill out and return the application, acknowledgement & enrollment contract.
  2. Submit or email a copy of your social security card and driver’s license or passport.
  3. Submit or email a copy of the letter from the Board of Nursing, indicating that you are required to take the remedial course, before your clinical rotation can be scheduled.
  4. Pay course fees (the full amount or the required $800 deposit to start the course) via convenient payment methods (zelle, cashapp, credit/debit card, cashier’s check, money order or PayPal).
    Note: If you choose the Payment Plan option, each payment must be made within 28 days of the previous payment. The remaining balance must be paid in full before your clinical rotation is scheduled.
  5. Once payment is received, the applicant will receive a link (including username and password) to the online lectures/videos within 7-14 business days and will be sent an email with additional information, including the steps to take to complete the assessment exam, the course schedule, etc.

Grading:

  • Didactic

Candidates are required to pass each module/subject with a minimum average score of 75% in Fundamentals, Women’s Health and Labor & Delivery, Mental Health, Medical-Surgical Nursing, Pediatrics, Pharmacology, etc.) and pass the final exam with a minimum score of 75%.  

  • Clinical: Pass/Fail* 

*An unsatisfactory evaluation or dismissal from the clinical site will result in the student failing the course.

  • Start Date/Class Day 

-Self-paced Class – Can start anytime (Didactic only)  

-Live Class (Zoom or On-site) for NCLEX Prep: Held once a week from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM for a duration of 8-12 weeks.

-Clinicals: Scheduled once a month for 1-2 weeks.
